Snowed all the way through Georgia. The South under it looks wrong — Spanish moss beaded with ice, red clay frozen hard. Lunch at a Cracker Barrel near Auburn, Alabama, the place full of AU students treating it like a snow day. The other side of the highway slowed for an accident we'd already passed. Montgomery appeared through clearing clouds. Dinner at AYA — Southern elevated, West African and Caribbean in the bones. BBQ oyster mushroom, grits, cooked greens. The right end to that day.
